Amir Or (1956) Israeli award winning poet. Or has founded and developed the Helicon Hebrew-Arabic Poetry School, he serves as art director for the "Sha'ar" International Poetry Festival and is the national coordinator for "Poets for Peace". His poems have been translated into more than 30 languages.

Das Beckwerk. A representative from Das Beckwerk in Copenhagen will make his appearance at the festival. Das Beckwerk produces novels, poems, one-man shows, photgraphies, installations, political protests, concerts, music productions, video and Internet protests. (Claus Beck Nielsen was born in 1963; according to his own statement he died in 2001).

David Vikgren (1975) Vikren grew up in Øvertorneå and Luleå in then orthern part of Sweden. The author and dramatist made his debut in autumn of 2002 with the poetry collection För en framtid for antropologisk forskning (What a future for anthropology research). For his second book, in 2004, he was awarded the lyricist award "the Golden Pin", and the book was described as his literary breakthrough. This year (2008) he is releasing a new book - Inomhuslektionen.

Erling Kittelsen (1946)Kittelsen is a productive poet and fableauthor from Oslo. Kittelsen made his debut in 1970 and has made more than 30 publications throughout his career. Kittelsen has cooperated with and retold poetry from poets-in-exile from Pakistan, China and Iraq. He´s also retoldnorse texts, Latvian folkpoems and classic text from Persia and Sumeria.

Faiha Abdulhadi (1951) Faiha Abdulhadi is a Palestinian author. She has published nine books, and is the chairman for "Ogarit" Cultural Center for Publishing and Translation in Ramallah, which is supported by the Norwegian Authors Union. Dr. Abdulhadi is also a member of the Palestinian National Council.

Iben Sandemose (1950) IbenSandemose grew up in Smestad and she still resides in the Capitol. She´s an educated art teacher, and has made her living as an artist since 1979. She has published many children books, calendars and various other books, and she has had many art exhibitions with her own drawings and graphics. Her children books, has been sold to Denmark, Sweden, Japan and USA.

Karen Anne Buljo (1964) Buljo is from Masi, and currently resides in Alta. She´s an author, composer and artist, and has written lyrics for artists such as MaritHættaØverli, Johan Sara jr., Orbina and Mari Boine. Buljo has composed numerous joiks, retold from English and Norwegian to sami. She has published articles, short stories, poems and illustrations, and made audio books and cd´s for children.

Lina Tibi (1963) Lina Tibi was born in Syria but currently resides in Egypt. She´s a poet and writer, and has so far published five poetry collections. Tibi had published a number of articles in a number of magazines. She has participated in recitals world wide, and her poems has been translated into a number of languages. She has also been chief-editor for "Al-Katiba", a magazine about female Arabic literature.

Mona Mörtlund (1957) Mörtlund is from the Tornedalen a borderline area between Sweden and Finland. She is one of very few authors that writes in the particular language from Tornedalen;Meänkieli. Mörtlund has written poems, music and lyrics, children's books and scripts for theatre and film.

Mohammed Hassan Abdullah (37). From Iraq, has been a city poet in Tromsø since the autumn of 2007. Author, scientist and translator that has specialized in French literature and translation. He writes in Arabic, French and English. Abdullah is one of the founders of “Association of translator´s youth”. He´s published the books Woman's Terrain, Love on the Door and The Beginning of the End.

Muniam Alfaker (1953) Alfaker is born in Bagdad in Iraq. He now resides in Denmark, where he works as a writer and poet. He is also chairman for the Lyricistgroup in the Danish Authors Union. He´s published a number of poet collections, and has contributed with his work in a lot of anthologies. A number his books has been translated and published in French, Arabic and Norwegian.

Susanne Christensen (1969) Christensen moved form Copenhagen to Bergen in 1999. She has earned a masters degree in literature science from the University of Bergen, and was an active member of the small publishing house Gasspedal (gasspedal.org) from 2000 to 2006. Christensen is a literature critic in the daily newspaper Klassekampen, and part of the editorial staff in the literary magazine Vagant.

Terje Dragseth (1955) Dragseth is born in Kristiansand. He made his debut as an author in 1980, and has since published poetry collections, drama and prose. Dragseth is educated as a film director from the National Film School of Denmark, and he also performs as a troubadour with his own lyrics.

Tom LaBlanc (1946)LaBlanc is a Native American author, artist and peace activist. He was the first Native American to receive Heinrich Bölls memorial award for indigenous people literature. His work has been published into 17 languages, and has been published in countries such as Norway, Germany and Japan.

Tor Eystein Øverås (1968) Øverås resides in Bodø. He took his honours degree in Literature Science at the Univeristy of Bergen, and he has also attended the Art of Writing Academy in Hordaland. Øveras has published a few novels, and contributed in numerous anthologies. He worked as editor for the literary magazine Vinudet (The Window) from 1998-99. Øvrås was awarded Havmannprisen in 2005 for his book: Til: en litterær reise (To: A literary journey).

Ulf Karl Olov Nilsson (1965)Ulf Karl Olof Nilsson (UKON) is born in Umeå, but resides in Gothenburg where he works as a poet and a psychologist. He made his debut in 1990 with Kung-Kung. Nilsson is a member of the editing staff for numerous magazines. He has in his later work used poesy as an editing tool, where different voices and ready mades are used in his texts.

Øyvind Berg (1959) Berg is born in Oslo. He had intermediate subjects in philosophy and literature and unfinished studies in Egyptology with the universities of Bergen and Tromsø. He made his debut with the poetry collection Retninger(Directions)in 1982. His authorship contains lyrical poetry, drama and reproductions. Berg is also one of the driving forces in the theatre group Baktruppen.

Øyvind Rimbereid (1966) Rimbreid is born in Stavanger and resides in Bergen. He´s earned his Cand.philol. at the Univeristy of Bergen and works as an educational officer at the Art of Writing Academy in Hordaland. He made his debut in 1993, and published two short-stories and a novel before he made his debut as a lyric poet in 2000. For his poetry collecions he´s been awared Sult-prisen, the Norwegian Lyricist Club Award and the Critics Award.

Åsa Larsson (1966)Larsson is a lawyer and famous Swedish criminal novel writer that will be attending Ordkalottens Saturday criminal novel session, where she will speak about her criminal novels from Kiruna, where she grew up, the area which is in the borderline area between Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Kjell Askildsen (1929). Born in Mandal but currently resides in Oslo. Askildsen is an author and a translator who made his debut with the short story collection Heretter følger jeg deg helt hjem in 1953. He has since published sixteen titles. Askildsen has been awarded nine awards for his authorship and in 2006 the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet awarded his short story collection Thomas F's siste nedtegnelser til almenheten to the best Norwegian book to have been published in the last 25 years. Askildsens books has been published into more than 20 languages.

Ole Robert Sunde (1952) Born in Kristiansand but currently resides in Oslo. Made his debut with the poetry collection Hakk i hæl in 1982. He has since published poems, essays, prose and novels. He´s received awards from the Norwegian publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal. Sunde is well respected as an author amongst colleagues and other artists, in academic circles and within Art institutions in Norway and in other Scandinavian countries.

Knut Nærum (1961) Nærum has lived in Oslo since 1992. He´s a Norwegian comedian, author, comic strip author and TV-entertainer, and is a regular guest in the Norwegian TV-chanel NRK´s satire program Nytt på nytt. Nærum is attached to NRK as an author, editor and contributes to a number of television series. He writes for children and adults; books, audiobooks and scripts for the stage.

Sigbjørn Skåden (1976). Born in Skånland but resides in Tromsø. Made his debut with the epic prosepoem Skuovvadeddjiid gonagas in 2004. His debut was nominated to the Nordic Council literary award in 2007, from the sami language area. In 2007 the book was retold by the author himself to Norwegian with the title Skomakernes konge. Skåden is a member of the Sami Authors Association, the Markomeannú-festival and Ordkalotten literature-festival.

Jessie Kleeman (1959) Born in Upernavik, Greenland, but lives and works in Nuuk and Copenhagen. Kleeman is a known poet and performanceartist that combines performance, dance and poetry. In 2008 she published a book with modern texts and poets in Greenlandic and English in Vermont. She has arranged poetryfestivals, writing workshops and worked at the Author School in Greenland the last four years, which now collaborates with the Danish Author School.

Elena Borisovna Antropova (1959) Born in Arkhangelsk, Russia. She´s an educated philologist from the University of Tsjerniysjekvskij and has previously worked as a teacher. Antropova has also been head of a department at a firm of publishers, a business woman, guide and a correspondent. Today she works as a journalist and as an author of fairy tales for children.

Elena Gabova (1952) is a pseudonym for Elena Vasiljevna Stolpovskaja. She´s born in Syktyvar, the capitol of the Republic of Komi in Russia, and she´s a native of the komipeople. She´s educated at the Film Institute of Moscow and she has written ten prosebooks. She writes firstly and foremost for children and adolescents.

Endre Lund Eriksen (1977). Born in Bodø but resides in Tromsø. Made his debut in 2002 with the children- and adolescent book Pitbull-Terje går amok. The book has been made into a feature film that was nominated to the Norwegian Film Award Amanda. The script for the film was adapted by the author himself. Since then, the author has written two more books about the character Pitbull-Terje in addition to two children books and two novels. His authorship has given him numerous awards, amongst them the U-award and the ARK-award.

Eva Jensen (1955). Resides in Tromsø. Made her debut with Dikt og tekstar in 1984, and has since published children- and adolescent books, picture books, poems, essays and novels. She has received a number of awards for her authorship, and she is one of the authors presented in the Nordic Anthology Det har kome ein komet. This autumn Jensen is of very great present interest with both an adolescent book and a poetry collection to be released.

Lilian Edvall (1948). Resides in Väsby, Sweden. She works as a freelance journalist and an author, and she has written several non-fiction books and fiction books for children and adolescents and non-fiction prose for adults. Edvall is particularly known for her children books about the rabbit and its everyday problems. A number of those books has also been translated into English.

Rauni Magga Lukkari (1943). Lukkari is regarded as one of our most important sami lyricists. She made her debut in 1980, and has since published a number of poetry collections and written the theatre play Lykkens mann, that was put on stage at Nasjonalteatret (the Norwegian National Theatre) last year. She was also nominated for the Nordic Council Literary Award for the poetry collection Mørk dagbok (Dark Diary) in 1987.
